Tristiboxanes were hitherto inaccessible. Reaction (a) now enables the synthesis of the tristiboxane 1 , which presumably is present in equilibrium with other phenylantimony species in solution. The considerable dissymmetry within the bent SbOSb bridges of 1a can be attributed to the positive partial charge of the external antimony atoms and the stronger interaction resulting therefrom with the lone pair of the bridge oxygen atom.
