The synthesis of 1, the first tetra alkyl disilene, proved to be surprisingly simple even though there have been many unsuccessful attempts to synthesize it. The mass spectrum, electronic spectrum, and 1 H‐NMR spectrum of the product, which could also be obtained in crystalline form, are in agreement with structure 1 . The reactions of 1 (e.g., epoxide formation with O 2 ) also confirm that 1 is a disilene and not a silanediyl or cyclotrisilane. (R = (Me 3 Si) 2 CH)
