The cover shows how the geometry calculated by the MINDO method changes during synchronous methyl azide decompositions. The stroboscopic representation corresponds to a view onto the H–C–N plane. The N 2 molecule follows a curved trajectory accompained by flattening and rotation of the H 2 C fragment. Further details on the behavior of azides upon gas‐phase pyrolysis, as well as the information thereby obtained regarding the molecular course of chemical reactions (e.g., the orientation of molecules in “reaction complexes” and the role of molecular dynamics in energy transfer), are reported by H. Bock et al. on p. 504ff.
