Lower temperatures and high selectivity characterize the decarbonylation of aldehydes, acid chlorides and acyl cyanides on Ni X /C ∞ catalysts. For example, crotonaldehyde can be cleaved to propene and CO in this way at 360 K. With other catalysts essentially higher temperatures are required.
