All three fundamental vibrations of the tetra‐silatetrahedrane anion Si   4 4−have been observed for the first time. The synthesis of the red, transparent metal silicides CsSi, K 3 LiSi 4 , and K 7 LiSi 8 , which was achieved recently, made possible the measurement of the Raman (and IR) spectrum of Si   4 4− .
