Aggregation of free [12]crown‐4 molecules with the Co 2⊖ ‐complex 1 of this ligand leads to formation of the stacks illustrated on the right, through which the Co 2⊙ ions can move. Dynamic NMR‐ and 2D‐ 1 H‐exchange NMR‐measurements suggest a jump mechanism, reminiscent of the mechanism of ion transfer through biomembranes.
