The dianion 1 serves as the precursor of two 1,3‐diboretanes having distinctly different geometries, the puckered diboretane 2 and the nearly planar diboretane 3 . The small distance between the two Au atoms in 3 indicates the existence of an Au–Au interaction (R 1 NiPr 2 , R 2 SiMe 3 ).
