The synthesis of meduim and large rings using metals as templates has been well investigated for carbocycles as well as for oxygen‐containing, nitrogencontaining, and other heterocycles. On the other hand, little is known about the corresponding syntheses of cyclic polythioethers, which are potentially strong ligands for many transition metals . The title compound 3 can be prepared in good yield, as shown below, from 1 and the thioether S(C 2 H 4 Br)2 via 2 . Compound 2 in turn undergoes reaction with the thioether to give the iron complex of 3 . A one‐pot synthesis is also possible.
