By activation of H atoms in close spatial proximity, the Li substituent of a monolithium compound influences the position of the second lithiation . The crystal structure and the cross signals in the 6 Li 1 H 2D HOESY spectrum of 1 revealed three short LiH separations. Indeed, the H atom with the smallest separation (H11) is replaced upon reaction with n BuLi.
