Clusters of five linearly condensed Mo 6 O 12 units are contained in the novel indium oxomolybdate In 3 Mo 11 O 17 , direct demonstration of which was accomplished by high‐resolution transmission electron microscopy. Linear polycations In   6 8⊕are located between the oxoanions. The results signal a broad chemistry of “oligomeric” clusters (from individual Mo 6 octahedra to infinite chains of octahedra) and a multitude of possible polycations of the main group metals.
