The search for organic metals and superconductors containing ET radical cations has led, by systematic variation of the anions, to ζ‐(ET) 2 AuBr 2 , a compound having a novel arrangement of the SċS network, which is decisive for the electrical properties. However, the compound is not a superconductor. In the crystal, the ET radical cations form stacks with SċS separations of <3.8 Å. The stacks are linked together to form two‐dimensional layers, in which four very short SċS contacts (<3.5 Å) are present.
