Not the structure of a lanthanoid( III ) homologue resembles that of Cp 3 Lu(CpC 5 H 5 ), but rather that of the corresponding Sc compound. This supports the old contention that not La, but Lu should be placed in group 3A (se, Y…) of the periodic system.
