A delocalized metallacyclic system is present in the title compound 1 , which was prepared from Cp   2 * Zr(CCPh) 2 and the thermally generated bent metallocene Cp   2 * Zr with transfer of a phenylethynyl unit. The diamagnetic product 1 has no metal‐metal bond; the formally d 1 ‐configurated zirconium centers are linked exclusively via the σ, π‐alkynyl ligands (Cp * = η‐C 5 H 4 CH 3 ).
