The oxidation of diphenylcarbene 1 to benzophenone O ‐oxide 2 with molecular oxygen has been elucidated by a matrix isolation technique. 2 is stable in the matrix at 10K and can be detected spectroscopically. The well‐known chemiluminescence is observed in the reaction of 2 with 1 .
