Ozonolysis on powdered polyethylene has also proven useful in the case of the olefin 1 : thus, 2 , the first stable diozonide, could be isolated and characterized. 2 forms two isomers, of m.p. 51 and < − 60°C, which can be stored for a few hours at room temperature and for periods of months at −20°C.
