The silver oxide Ag 3 O 4 contains crystallographically differentiable di‐ and trivalent silver ions, each in square‐planar oxygen environment. From the bond lengths it is concluded that extensive charge equalization takes place between Ag 2+ and Ag 3+ , Ag 3 O 4 is obtained by anodic oxidation of silver salt solutions.
