Quantitative current yields without formation of Cr III salts are achieved in the oxidation of 2‐propanol to acetone at ceramic Ti/Cr 2 O 3 anodes. The postulated reaction mechanism is analogous to that formulated by Westheimer for homogeneous oxidation with chromic acid. The lifetimes of the electrodes, however, are too short for use of the reaction on an industrial scale.
