Novel complexes with methyl dithioacetate as η 3 ‐ligand have been synthesized from nitrile complexes and characterized, inter alia, by X‐ray structure analysis of 1 . The SCS group of the ligand is exactly planar and is bound in an allyl‐like fashion to the metal. Electrophilic attack at the “thione” sulfur leads to dinuclear complexes or η 2 ‐dithiocarbenium derivatives.
