The formation of 1,3,5‐cyclohexanetriones such as 2 upon reaction of 1 with Zn in MeCN is formally a trimerization of the cyclic ketene (Me 3 SiCHCH 2 )CCO. According to model studies, 2 could be formed via an intermediary organometallic compound.
