Addition of the donor ligand MeNC to the dicobalt complex 1 proceeds with opening of the hydrido bridge. The aminocarbyne complex 2 that is formed rearranges in the presence of methylamine into the μ‐ N ‐methylformidoyl complex 3 (anion: PF   6 − ).
