An increase in coordination numbers from 6:6 to 7:7 accompanies the conversion of the normal‐pressure modification of NaGe, the only compound of the NaGe type, into a NaPb‐type modification under pressure. This increase is in turn accompanied by an increase in density of ca. 5%. The Ge substructure, consisting of isolated tetrahedra, remains unaltered. Large changes in electrical properties are to be expected in a modification with 8:8 coordination, which could be obtained at still higher pressures.
