A direct comparison of the hyperconjugative delocalization into the CH and CC σ‐bonds has been made by ESR and ENDOR studies of the radical anions 2a, b ⊖⊙ . The experimental findings can be interpreted in terms of hyperconjugative abilities of the CC bonds being smaller than those of the CH bonds,at variance with the previous predictions of MO‐models.
