The first examples of ( E )‐enols of β‐dicarbonyl compounds are provided by the isolation of the methyl ester, X = OMe, and the morpholide, X = NC 4 H 8 O. Their melting points as well as their IR and NMR spectra differ clearly from those of the ( Z )‐isomers, which were also isolated.
