The title compound 2 was synthesized as the first ethyne complex of nickel(0) that is stable at room temperature . Reaction of (Ph 3 P)Ni(C 2 H 4 ) 2 with ethyne affords the reddish brown complex 1, which reacts with additional ethyne and PPh 3 to give yellow 2 .
