The barrier for rotation in diphosphenes is lowered by complex formation . Thus the irradiation of complexes 1 , M = Cr, Mo, W, resuts in E → Z isomerization of the diphosphene ligand. 2 is the first example of a ( Z )‐diphosphene as ligand in a mononuclear carbonylmetal complex.
