The synthesis of the first bis(fluoromethylidyne) cluster , [Fe 3 (CO) 9 (μ 3 ‐CF) 2 ], was accomplished quite easily by reaction of Fe(CO) 5 or Fe 2 (CO) 9 with CFBr 3 . The two CF‐ligands and the Fe 3 ‐unit form a trigonal bipyramid with the CF‐ligands in the apical positions. The formation of a FCCF‐complex could be ruled out.
