The first sandwich complex with an apical thallium atom , 1 , is made up of the layers C 5 H 5 /Co/Me 4 (B 2 C 3 )H 2 /Tl. In contrast to polymeric Tl(C 5 H 5 ), 1 is a discrete molecule described as a closo ‐cluster.
