Classical and non‐classical derivatives of C 4 B 2 H 6 can be synthesized from the borole dianion 1 . Depending upon the pattern of substitution, either the classical 2,6‐diboroabicyclo[3.1.0]hex‐3‐ene derivative 2 or the non‐classical nido ‐carbaborane 3 is the more stable.
