The transformation of a cluster with a μ 3 ‐phosphanediyl ligand into the title compound 1 , R p ‐H 3 COC 6 H 4 , was achieved by reaction with NaNH 2 and CH 2 I 2 . In 1 , a phosphaalkene RPCH 2 is stabilized for the first time as a μ 3 ‐η 2 ‐bridge; it can be reduced in the cluster to a novel type of μ 3 ‐η 3 ‐phosphino ligand RPCH 3 .
