Ethyl, isopropyl, and sec ‐butyl esters are obtainable from benzyl or aryl bromides, aluminum alkoxides, and CO in the presence of catalysts. Metal‐catalyzed reactions of the readily available and inexpensive aluminum alkoxides were previously unknown.
