The planar structure of the title compound 1 could be confirmed by X‐ray structure analysis. The shortness of the central bond (1.35 Å) favors the resonance structure B ; that is, 1 can be regarded as a [14]annulene perturbed by the C C bridge.—The decisive reaction step is a novel type of Ramberg‐Bäcklund analogous rearrangement.
