A rare arrangement of metal atoms, previously not observed in copper compounds , occurs in the iodocuprate(I) ion in [Cu 6 I 11 ] 5⊖ . The Cu atoms form a trigonal prism to whose six edges and five faces the eleven iodine atoms are bonded.
