The non‐planar 1,3‐dihydro‐1,3‐diboretes 3 form planar radical anions. This was deduced from the ESR data. The unpaired electron resides preferentially on the ring C‐atoms. The key step in the synthesis of 3 is the ring expansion of 2 (R = neopentyl, SiMe 3 ).
