A non‐planar B 2 C 2 skeleton is present in the title compound 2 , which was prepared by dehalogenation of the 1,2‐diborylethene 1 . An X‐ray structure analysis showed that the ring CB bonds are quite short that the distance between the ring C‐atoms is 1.81 Å (R 1 Me 2 N, R 2 t Bu)
