Se 2 S 5 , the first cyclic selenium sulfide of type Se x S y with x + y = 7 , was prepared from titanocene pentasulfide and dichlorodiselane. In solution, Se 2 S 5 forms Se 3 S 5 and SeS 5 (the first Se x S y species with x + y = 6). A spirocyclic intermediate 1 is proposed for the decomposition reaction.
