Yes! is the answer to the question posed in the title of this communication: According to 1 H‐ and 13 C‐NMR data, the parent compound 1, R H, is diatropic. In derivatives with N ‐donor subsituents the heterocycle is diatropic and planar, in derivatives with N ‐acceptor subsituents, on the other hand, it is neither planar nor diatropic.
