The X‐ray structure analysis of germanocene 1 —prepared for the first time in pure form from NaC 5 H 5 and GeCl 2 ·dioxane, and stable for weeks at −30°C—shows that it is present as the monomer. 1 is an excellent educt for the synthesis of Ge II compounds, e.g., alcoholysis leads to 2 .
