Precursors with a high Fe content, such as (1) , are especially suitable for the construction of the MoFe cofactor of nitrogenase . Reaction of AgNO 3 , (NH 4 ) 2 MoS 4 and PPh 3 affords the symmetrical trinuclear complex (2) . The structures of (1) and (2) and related compounds were determined by the Resonance‐Raman‐Effect method; the influence of the nearest and next nearest neighbors on the vibrations of the ligand chromophore is investigated.
