White phosphorus reacts with 1,1,2,2‐tetramethyldislannane in the dark at 0°C to give the title compound , which according to an X‐ray structure analysis has D 3 ‐symmetry. The bicyclo[2.2.2]octane framework with P in the bridgehead position is constructed from three Sn 4 P 2 six‐membered rings which share three bonds with each other and adopt a distorted boat conformation.
