1,4‐Benzoquinone reacts with 4‐substituted aryl isocyanides to give the adducts ( 1 )–( 3 ), whose longest wavelength absorption maximum lies at ca. 600 nm. The structure of the symmetric compounds ( 2 ) and ( 3 ) could be determined by 13 C‐NMR spectroscopy.
