N,N ‐Dialkylthioamides can be regioselectively metalated with PdCl 2 ; thus, reaction of ( 2 ) with PdCl 2 in CH 3 OH leads to the orthometalated compound ( 1 ), while in HMPA the product of palladation contains a CH 2 group adjacent to the nitrogen atom.
