Depsipeptides with alternating amino and hydroxy acid units are obtainable with the aid of the new protecting group p ‐MeSC 6 H 4 OCO (Mtpc) and its oxidation product p ‐Me—SO 2 —C 6 H 4 OCO (Mspc). The Mtpc‐Leu‐Lac‐O t Bu half of the educt is hydrolyzed; the other half oxidized. These products react to give the teradepsipeptide (1) . The reaction sequence is repeatable.
