The transformation of a μ‐methylene‐dirhodium complex into a μ 3 ‐methylidyne‐trirhodium complex (X‐ray structure analysis) has been accomplished in reaction (1) → (3) . The first step is protonation of (1) to form the (isolable) μ‐hydrido complex (2) .
