Photochemical studies on model sulfonamides and antidiabetics (1) led to the conclusion that that appearance of light‐induced dermatoses on administration of tolbutamide (1a) could be due to the reaction of radicals (and SO 2 ) with the cell components; furthermore, (1a) might attack the cell protein as hapten.
