Planar, sterically undemanding Ni, Pd, and Pt complexes of type (1) —useful donor components for CT complexes—have been synthesized from tetraethoxypropane, ethanol, HCl, H 2 S, and MCl 2 . The NMR spectra of Pt(ptt) 2 , (1) , M = Pt, X = S, suggest strong electron delocalization.
