Only a formal analogy exists between [(η 5 ‐C 5 H 5 )Fe(CO) 3 ] + and [(C 4 GeR 5 )Fe(CO) 3 ] + , as demonstrated by the synthesis of the title compound: incorporation of the heteroatom leads to considerable structural changes. This is in agreement with MO calculations.
