Epoxidation of phospholene oxides (1) to give (2) proceeds almost quantitatively by the route shown below, thus superseding previous methods. There is no need to isolate the intermediate (2) . An X‐ray structure analysis has been performed on one of the stereoisomers of (2a) , R 1 = OCH 3 , R 2 = R 3 = CH 3 .
