Tris(trimethyl)silyl compounds of all GroupIIIB metals are known now that the synthesis of Ga(SiMe 3 ) 3 has been accomplished. The tetrahydrofuran adduct (1) initially obtained can be freed from solvent by sublimation in a high vacuum. Ga(SiMe 3 ) 3 resembles the indium derivative more closely than the (associating) aluminum derivative.
