The first crystal structure analysis of a chromium insertion product in a cyclophane has been achieved on the salt (1) , whose cation exists exclusively in the chair conformation. In contrast, according to its 1 H‐NMR spectrum, the corresponding chromium(0) compound is present in the boat conformation (2) and the chair conformation (3) in a ratio of 1:1 in solution at −70°C.
