A new chain‐like silicate oligo‐anion , the first tetrasilicate, has been synthesized as the vermilion silver salt by reaction of Ag 2 O with SiO 2 (low‐temperature quartz) under enhanced oxygen pressure at 500–600°C. An X‐ray structure analysis has been performed.
